What was the highlight of Hotel Van Eyck
Very nice hotel with some niggly issues
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They resolved issues with the heating, wifi, and TV promptly. The room was very large and nicely decorated and the bed was comfy. There was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was also large and I liked having a walk-in shower separate from the bath. The property was centrally located on the main square and the advance info about the parking possibilities was appreciated.
The main thing I didn't like was being able to hear music from the restaurant below, and (incongruously) from municipal speakers in the square outside. The staff did ask for the restaurant music to be lowered which improved things but really the sound-proofing needs to be better. The shower cubicle was in need of some tlc. Despite the large room there was no dressing table in the bedroom, and I had to stand in the bathroom to do my hair and make-up, which to me is unnecessarily difficult and inconvenient, although all too common these days sadly. Not the hotel's fault but be warned that every restaurant nearby was full on Saturday night, so you need to reserve. The only veggie option on the hotel's menu was a salad, so we ended up having to order a pizza.
